So One of my highlights from this summer was the opportunity to work on the film" Tru Life Story", which is written & Directed by a talented new Comer , who is also a Dear friend of Mine, Robin Shanea Williams. Tru Life Story” opens on the life of 17 year old Trudy Velez. A beautiful, tough-hearted girl born and raised in the Bronx, New York. Trudy lives with her younger sister and overworked, underpaid single mother. She is a bright but occasionally troublesome teen who is madly in love with her equally troubled boyfriend. Trudy is a gifted rapper. Her talent is reminiscent of the promise of legendary female rappers like MC Lyte and Queen Latifah, whose furious rhymes were focused on verbal prowess and content and not exploitative sexuality. Trudy carries that promise in her. But when she finds out she is pregnant a few months before graduation, she is faced with the most difficult decision of her entire life.
I Must say Working on this film was truly an honor, Im truly blessed that I was given this opportunity by Robin. I've never, I mean never worked with a Group of people as dedicated and talented as this Bunch. From day one of shooting, the team meshed like a Family, the Energy on set each week was Phenomenal.
